Shattered Act I: Focus
A Narrative Game About Mental Fracture & Human Connection
Overview:
Shattered is an emotionally charged, story-driven experience available on iOS. As the Game Designer and Asset Creator, I helped shape a deeply immersive world that blends psychological themes with a surreal visual style—inviting players to explore what it means to break, heal, and rebuild.
Thematic Core: Hikikomori Isolation
This game draws direct inspiration from the real-world condition of Hikikomori—a form of acute social withdrawal most commonly associated with young adults in Japan, but increasingly recognized worldwide. The game portrays the mental claustrophobia, loneliness, and internal fragmentation of someone who has chosen to disconnect from society entirely.
Through symbolic environments and fragmented storytelling, players get a first-person experience of the inner turbulence faced by those trapped in isolation. The game doesn’t just tell a story—it creates empathetic understanding through interaction.
My Contributions:
Game Design: Crafted meaningful interactions and gameplay mechanics that support narrative pacing and emotional impact.
Asset Creation: Designed and Illustrated all visual assets, blending realism with abstraction to reflect the protagonist’s fractured perception of reality and emotions.
About the Game:
In Shattered Act I, players journey through a dreamlike landscape where memory and reality blur. The story explores mental health, emotional resilience, and the silent battles we carry, making it not just a game but a reflection on human fragility and strength.
